Terms of Service

1. Platform Role

The Faithful Tourist ("Platform") is an online service that connects churches ("Hosts") with travelers ("Guests") for volunteer service experiences. The Platform is not a party to, has no involvement or interest in, and has no responsibility or liability with respect to any communications, arrangements, stays, volunteer work, interactions, or disputes between Hosts and Guests.

2. Account Registration

  • You must be at least 18 years old
  • You must provide accurate, current information
  • One account per person
  • You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account
  • You must accept these Terms and the Code of Conduct to create an account

3. User Conduct

  • Treat all members with respect and dignity
  • Provide accurate information in your profile and listings
  • Communicate promptly and honestly
  • Honor commitments made through the Platform
  • Respect the faith traditions and practices of host communities
  • No harassment, discrimination, or threatening behavior
  • No unlawful activity
  • No monetary exchange for accommodation (the exchange is volunteer service for free accommodation)

4. Assumption of Risk

You acknowledge and assume all risks associated with using the Platform, including but not limited to risks related to: hosting or staying with other users, volunteer work, property damage, personal injury, theft, health incidents, and failure of any arrangement to meet expectations. You understand that the Platform does not screen, vet, or guarantee the safety, reliability, or conduct of any user.

5. Release of Claims

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release The Faithful Tourist, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from any and all claims, demands, and damages of every kind arising out of or connected with your interactions with other users of the Platform. This release includes claims you may not yet be aware of at the time of agreeing to these Terms.

6. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE PLATFORM IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS. THE FAITHFUL TOURIST EXPRESSLY DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

The Platform makes no warranty that: (a) the service will meet your requirements; (b) the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free; (c) any information obtained through the service will be accurate or reliable; or (d) any user of the service is trustworthy, safe, or suitable.

7. Limitation of Liability

IN NO EVENT SHALL THE FAITHFUL TOURIST'S AGGREGATE LIABILITY TO YOU EXCEED ONE HUNDRED CANADIAN DOLLARS ($100 CAD). In no event shall The Faithful Tourist be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or goodwill.

8. No Insurance

The Faithful Tourist does not provide, arrange, or carry any insurance for Hosts, Guests, or their properties, belongings, or persons. You are solely responsible for maintaining your own insurance coverage. Hosts represent that they maintain appropriate liability insurance covering volunteers on their premises.

9. Profile Verification

Profile verification (where offered) confirms identity only. Verification does not constitute a guarantee of character, criminal history, trustworthiness, or suitability. The Platform cannot and does not guarantee the safety or conduct of any user.

10. Content & Reviews

  • You retain ownership of content you post
  • You grant the Platform a license to display your content
  • Reviews are subject to the Platform's double-blind review policy
  • The Platform may remove content that violates these Terms or the Code of Conduct

11. Termination

  • You may delete your account at any time
  • The Platform may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms
  • The release of claims and assumption of risk survive account termination

12. Dispute Resolution

Disputes between users should be resolved directly between the parties. The Platform may assist in dispute resolution but is not obligated to do so and accepts no liability for the outcome of any dispute.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada.

14. Changes to Terms

The Platform may update these Terms at any time. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
